Our angle looks straight<br \/>\nup.<br \/>\nNow an angle looking steeply down: the snow falls not quite dead<br \/>\naway to collect on a<br \/>\nforeground chimneypot and on the little shtetl street that lies<br \/>\nmaplike below us.<br \/>\nIt is night, and quiet, and the street is deserted except for<br \/>\none man who walks away from<br \/>\nus, his valenki squeaking in the fresh snow. He carries bundled<br \/>\nbranches on one shoulder<br \/>\nand has a hatchet tucked into his belt.<\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\n<\/b>          We cut down to street level. The man walks toward us, bearded,<br \/>\nand bundled against the<br \/>\ncold.
